The UTHealth Houston Behavioral Sciences Imaging Center (BSIC) is a research facility dedicated to advancing the field of medical imaging through research and development. The Center is focused on creating and improving imaging technologies and techniques to enhance the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health. The Center aims to improve health by leading the development and accelerating the application of biomedical technologies. Our mission includes integrating physical and engineering sciences with life sciences to advance basic and scientific research by developing and applying cutting-edge imaging technologies. Through innovation in imaging, we will be able to develop and apply advanced imaging techniques to enhance the understanding of biological and medical processes related to behavioral health. Our center provides state-of-the-art imaging facilities and expertise to support researchers in their scientific endeavors. Education and Training will be offered to students, researchers, and clinicians to become proficient and certified. We foster collaboration through interdisciplinary collaborations to drive innovation and improve research outcomes. The Center provides data management to ensure high-quality data acquisition, analysis, and management to support robust and reproducible research. The Center is lead by Peter Kochunov, PhD, board certified MRI physicists by the American Board of Medical Physics, with extensive experience and practical knowledge in the areas of MRI technology, clinical magnetic resonance methodologies and safe MRI practice.
