UTHealth Center for Craniofacial Research Instrumentation Core (CCRIC)

Overview of Services

The fundamental purpose of the Center for Craniofacial Research Instrumentation Core (CCRIC) is to enhance research at the University, specially at the South Campus to increase funded research grants, quality of published papers, and recruitment/retention of faculty. Also, the CCRIC is committed to enhance and expand collaboration at UTSD, other UT Schools, and outside institutions. We aim to support faculty, students, and staff in the optimal utilization of instruments as a shared resource for which cost, operational investment, and expertise is most efficiently and effectively supported. 

CCRIC Policies and user guide

  2. Training is only available  for instruments that have the "Assisted Use" service (Instruments/workstation in blue on the instrument list below). Training fees are the same as "Assisted Use" fees. 
  3. Consultations are free:
    • User can consult with facility on project
    • What type of data needs to be collected
    • When user has a sample ready training will occur

UTHealth also offers a MicroCT Imaging Center

The MicroCT Imaging Center provides high-resolution 2D and 3D in vivo and ex vivo CT imaging with a Bruker SkyScan 1276 system. Samples up to the size of an adult rat can be imaged at resolution down to a voxel size of 3 microns. The instrument is operated on a charge-per-use basis and can be used independently (following user training) or with technician assistance. All of our services are available for reservation through our iLab portal.
